Preparing for an MRI is easy.  You may take all your normal medications and follow your usual eating schedule.  In other words, "normal routine".

The only other preparation for an MRI is that all removable metal objects must be left outside the scan room, including hearing aides, dentures and prosthetic devices.  Credit cards, coins, and keys must not be taken into the magnet room.  A locker will be available for your valuables.
